Evidence examines the boundary between human civilization and wild nature. As societies seek to expand their domain, they make incursions at the edge of the wilderness. Nature dictates the terms, and people must adapt to topography and ecology. Sometimes, expansion succeeds, and the boundary incrementally shifts. But often, nature exerts an irresistible force, grinding objects into dust, much of which rejoins the earth. At this wild boundary, I explore the tense yet rejuvenating integration of humanity and nature.
