A conceptual exploration of the universal impulse to seek guidance and meaning from forces beyond ourselves during times of emotional, existential, or social turmoil. Made inside my home and in my Los Angeles neighborhood, analog photographs of botanical and animal forms—among them creatures often regarded as vessels for departed souls—are layered with photographs of everyday objects and surroundings.
Composite photography (analog photographs that have been scanned and digitally layered). Because the images were created using film (200/400 iso) there is noticeable grain. I have printed the images as large as approximately 12" X 18" and could probably go larger. But I might go smaller for exhibition purposes.
